Burning feet (or hot feet) is a condition that can occur in many different types of people for many different reasons. Most commonly it is found in people over the age of 50 and in people with diabetes. Diabetics can be affected by burning feet due loss of feeling in the feet. A burning hot foot may be easily treatable or it may indicate a more serious problem that needs further investigation.
CausesNeuroma Pain (pinched nerve between 3rd and 4th toes).Athletes Foot sometimes produce a burning sensation.High levels of alcohol consumption.Tight, damp shoes and socks manufactured from man-made materials or allergic reaction to materials.Generally hot and sweaty feet due to fatigue.Smoking.Thyroid problems.Gastric restriction in obese people.Insulin dependent diabetes.Vitamin deficiencies.Mechanical causes e.g. Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome (entrapment of the nerve).
